I believe that statistics can cause unnecessary alarm if they are false or if they fail to give all the information. For example, there could be statistics for the percentage of woman who get miscarriages, but they don’t mention if there was anything causing that like drinking alcohol or consuming non-prescription drugs. There are even times when its just all false and it has no information backing it up, and then people look at them and they get misinformed.
