Week 6 Pre-Calculas
For week 6 we learned lesson 3.1, 3.2, 3.4
In 3.2 we learned that firstly, linear equations only ever have 1 solution, but if the equation is quadratic, meaning it was a degree of 2, there could be 2 solutions.
Using the formula: Ax^2+ Bx+ C=0 techniques like the zero product law and in polynomials we also use isolating variables to find the values of x.
In lesson 3.3 we learned concepts for perfect square trinomial like you can chop B in half and square it to find C.
Week 5 Pre-Calculas 11
In week 5 we started reviewing for our unit 2 test on radicals and absolute values. We also started reviewing factoring for our next unit coming up.
This week we learned about an abbreviation to help us remember the steps to factoring.
Common- IS there anything you can divide every term in the expression by?
Difference of squares- Is the expression a difference of squares?
Pattern- Does the trinomial follow the pattern X^2, X, #
Easy- Does the X^2 have no coefficient?
Ugly- Does the X^2 have a coefficient?
Government Responsibility
1. Write a three paragraph response to the above question. Your first paragraph should focus on the main arguments from one point of view, the second on arguments from the other and your final paragraph stating your position on the issue.
1: The government should be responsible for the actions that other government groups have made in the past because they made laws that affected and ruined many people lives. They put tax’s on Chinese immigrants and made residencial school which made people commit suicide and go insane. Just these 2 things that were done ruined thousands of families and caused families to break up and leave each other. There are still affects that are going on today and you cant really change the past.
2: The Government shouldn’t be responsible for the past decisions because they were not in power at the time and were not the ones making the Decisions. Even though that are in power now and technically the “government” is still responsible for the mistakes that they made no one who is currently in the government was there and helped make the decisions that affected families.
3: I think the government shouldn’t be fully responsible for what happened in the past but I do think that they should still apologize for the wrongs that were done by their organization. Even if it wasn’t them they are still associated with the group that did make the bad decisions. They should also teach kids in school about what happened because it is important to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes ever again.

- How do people maintain their culture post immigration, and in what ways might they be discouraged from doing so? Find one example in the media for each side. –The best way to preserve your culture is to keep it alive. Gather as a group not just for holidays, but for ordinary meals, events, or just conversation. Many aspects of culture are difficult to learn in books and museums, including etiquette, body language, and humor.

2. How does that show people maintaining their cultural heritage or how does it show people being discouraged from that?
People being welcomed into Canada and that might be the big first step for them in feeling accepted and willing to still embrace their culture knowing Canada does not judge and Canada has rights for these people coming and that they are equal to all the other Canadians out in our country.
The second example is one of the biggest figures in the world saying things about a certain group and their problems or imperfections. This would put a lot of people down and they would not feel welcome to wherever there going and the person from that certain group may not feel welcome anywhere else.
3. Based on the two samples you have found, do you think Canada is a multicultural country? Explain why?
In the early 20th century I do not think Canada was a multicultural country. Since 1975 to the present I think Canada is a multicultural country. I think it is multicultural because we have set laws and acts in place to protect and help people wanting to come into Canada and wanting to feel welcome. Even the rest of the world sees Canada as a big multicultural country and praises our accomplishments. Canada strives to be more and more accepting of other races and its beliefs or followings.

The Keg is a wonderful place to eat with friends and family. As soon as the ginormous double doors open, a calming effect and satisfying feeling emerges from the building. The waitresses are extremely friendly and always ready to help. The booths are spacious and can comfortably fit three people on each side. It isn’t noisy at the restaurant like most would expect but it is very quiet. Only a little chatter is still heard. Everything on the menu is described very well like their steak dinner. You think that you could almost taste it as you read the words. As soon as the order is taken by the waitress, everyone is eager to get their food. When the sizzling steak meal is on the table, and after the first bite, emotions flow through the body from head to toes. The food looks absolutely stunning. The steak is crispy and bursting with flavor. The mash potatoes are creamy and soft. The vegetables are cooked to perfection with the outside being a little charred. The fries are crispy and perfectly salted to make the flawless dinner. Now I wouldn’t say that this is an inexpensive meal, but it isn’t the most costly restaurant meal either. When you have a lot of people, it can get a little pricey, but it is definitely worth it.

The book Holes is written by Louis Sachar. The book is about a boy who finds a pair of sneaker that fell off a bridge as he was walking home. The police drove by and stopped stopped him and arrested him for stealing a famous basketballs players shoes. The boy was then taken to a place in the wilderness instead of jail and at his place they would have to dig a big hole in the ground everyday. They eventually found out he wasn’t guilty and let him go home after many events happening in the wilderness. So the lesson I learned is not to get mad because things in your life go wrong but most of the time it will work out in the end.

The science app is called : Extreme Trivia Quiz
Define : The proble
Dream : I searched for jeopardy science and science questions but when I went to the app store and searched for the extreme trivia came up.
Deliver/Debrief: the app is slow but it is helpful. not only does it have science but lots of different categories from the Bible to Boston. Some of the questions are not helpful and sort of dumb but most of them are good. in the end this app is not the best for you to use when you are studying for a quiz. the app is not the greatest for any uses but for fun and playing with your friends is fun.
