Engineering Brightness Proposal Post

Before we started the Skype chats, I thought that they would be kind of awkward, having to talk to people from other places around the world, but it ended up being pretty cool. We all prepared questions to ask the people and they answered all of our questions thoroughly, I’m not sure if they had image-3prepared answers for us but I’m pretty sure it was just unscripted, which was pretty cool.

Eladio and Dennis went over lot’s of different things that happened in the Dominican Republic and talked about the struggles they had.  We had to think of ways we could help out with the light poverty in their country. This was a good opportunity for us to create and plan out ways to help, we then Skyped with Mr. Fogarty.image-2

He gave us some good starting platforms for creating our lights and what kind of materials to use. This was really helpful because we knew what to start out with and didn’t need to go through the trial and error. Our group’s main plan was to make

Our group’s main plan was to make a flashlight that had a crank and was easy to work. But we ended up realizing that there were some problems with that such as breaking and inefficiency. So we moved to some form of kinetic energy which we think would work much better. You could just attach it to something that moves alot then remove it at the end of the day

  1. I like this post a lot. The organization was really well done with the screenshots and such. Except I can’t seem to find the other numbers for the sections. What are your group plans for using kinetic energy.

  2. Awesome job Evan! I enjoyed the stories about the skype chats, I liked the detail! The idea to make a flashlight with kinetic energy is pretty cool! I think that it will be more efficient then a hand crank, because like you said there is a possible chance of it breaking. However, Its awesome that you were able to change your plan and have a backup. You’re post was very insightful, keep up the good work and good luck!
