Taming of the Shrew Stop Motion

The play “Taming of the Shrew” is written by William Shakespeare. Our group of three did a stop motion project on the induction of “Taming of the Shrew”. Jacob downloaded the app and took the pictures, while Ethan and Dima moved the set and set up the scenes. Our project was just the induction which is the introduction to the main play of “Taming of the Shrew”which is called the inset, the inset is the main play within the play. In the induction of the play a drunk man is tricked into thinking he’s a lord, this leads to the inset. For the project we used an app called Stop Motion where we took lots of pictures while moving the characters which made a video. We also put audio into the video to explain what was going on. This differs from a stage performance because it’s not live and we can edit our video. It was difficult to keep the lighting the same and everything in the same position. We learned how to use the Stop Motion app and how to use Text to Speech to put audio into our video. Overall the project was good and we had fun making it and using the app.

Animal Farm Propaganda Poster

IMG_5181

The story “Animal Farm” by Gorge Orwell mimics the Bolshevik Revolution with a fable. The story has a great amount of propaganda in it throughout the story which is shown in the propaganda poster above. There are many types of propaganda in the poster including glittering generalities, fear, plain folks, and repetition.

Glittering generalities uses a slogan or catchphrase which the poster does have with how it says “This Could Happen To You” on the top.

The poster also uses fear. Fear is a big motivator because if you make someone think that something bad will happen to them, but then give them a way to stop it, they will do whatever you say to stop it. That is what the pigs in the story used to get the other animals to let them have more privileges than them. They told them that they needed certain things to keep themselves healthy and smart so that the humans wouldn’t come back. The poster uses fear because it shows an animal getting whipped by a human which all the animals on the farm didn’t like and they don’t want to get whipped ever again.

In the poster, there is an ordinary pig getting whipped. The pig is there so that the animals on the farm will relate to it and feel sympathy for it and that is using a propaganda method called plain folks which uses an ordinary person (in this case a pig), to make others relate to them.

The poster also has repetition on it with how it has “4 legs good, 2 legs bad” on the bottom being repeated over and over again. In the story, the animals say that many times, because it represents that all animals are friends and humans are enemies.
