Hi everyone in English 9, here is the plan for tomorrow’s online class- I hope you’ve got your orange shirt on, it is important that we don’t forget the negative impact of Residential Schools on our Indigenous population and the intergenerational trauma still being experienced today (hint Raven’s mom). We are allies together to create an inclusive and better Canada for you and your descendents!
12:15-12:30 No Red Ink- Adjectives and Adverbs finish. There is a new unit for more of an in depth look at the parts of speech to begin when completed. You should be working on this during your work block, we are only spending 15 minutes to begin our online class.
12:30-1:30 Characterization (all documents also located under class materials–characterization folder
No Red Ink-for those that are finished Parts of speech, please begin adjectives & adverbs. Those that are still doing Parts of Speech, let’s review common/abstract/proper nouns, as it seems some of you are stuck.
Go over short story summary for “A Mountain Journey”
A Mountain Journey Figurative Quote Illustration Question #7- you should have identified 4 examples from the story. Using those examples you are going illustrate the LITERAL meaning. I will show you some examples. You can do this digitally, or on paper.
Rest of class to work on questions and AMJ Figurative Quote
Because of Friday’s Pro-D, students M-Z must sign on tomorrow, digitally through teams. I will also record the class, but would strongly recommend joining the class.
No Red Ink: most of you have already signed up to www.noredink.com for a student account. Our class code is ‘calm dollar 61’ or you can click on this link. Please create a username that is recognizable (not goofy, with your name in it). Once you sign in, you will be asked to select some pop culture preferences (shows, sports, movies, etc.) and this will personalize your learning experience. Our first unit, is a review (hopefully) of the Parts of Speech. There are 5 of you who have not signed up yet, I will be connecting with you to ensure you know how. We will spend about 15 minutes today working on Parts of Speech review. If you have finished, well done! You may explore topics of your choice on the site, or silent read.
We will explore grammar on Wednesdays and silent reading on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, please bring a book from home, or download an ebook from the local library. I also have a selection of books to choose from, and you can sign out.
Partner Interview: make sure you get enough detail to write a paragraph about this partner. You will notice your partner and you (one group of 3) as a channel in teams. This is a new way of doing this, while maintaining social distancing.
