The grammar rule that my group is doing is the types of sentences, such as interrogative, declarative, imperative and exclamatory. This rule has four definitions for each of the types of sentences. The definition of the interrogative sentences is that they are used to ask a direct question towards someone about a certain topic. Declarative sentences mean that this sentence is used to display information about something, such as an assignment or a test. The definition for imperative sentences is that they’re used to tell someone what to do, so basically a command for someone. Last but not least, the exclamatory sentences are sentences that are used when you want to express a lot of emotion towards something or about something. Next, I will be giving examples for each of the types of sentences. Examples of interrogative sentences are: “How often do you read this article?”, “What is an adverb?”, and “What time will you finish writing your English homework?”. These examples show that they are asking direct questions to someone about different topics. The examples for declarative sentences are: “We own a cat.”, “This is my favorite movie.”, and also “Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago.” These examples are facts and information about certain topics. Examples for the imperative sentences are: “Do not stop.”, “Never speak to me like that again.”, and “Please leave your shoes outside.” These examples are showing that they are a command for someone to do something. At last, we have the examples for the exclamatory sentences: “I got an A in my research paper!”, “That movie was scary!”, and also “I can’t believe how fast that car was going!” All of these examples end in exclamation marks, which therefore means that they’re expressing a lot of emotion when they’re said.

Test Questions:

  1. What is a declarative sentence?
  2. What is an example of an exclamatory sentence?
  3. When would you use an imperative sentence?
  4. In which situation would you use an interrogative sentence? Situations: when you’re asking your friend if they did something this weekend or when you’re explaining an assignment to someone

Answers:

  1. A declarative sentence is a sentence that is used to display information about something.
  2. An example of an exclamatory sentence is “That movie was so scary!”
  3. You would use it when you would want to tell someone to do something for you.
  4. You would use it when you’re asking your friend about what they did this weekend.

  1. Thank you for submitting your Grammar Video Project for COL. I have reviewed your Edublog post, and have the following observations regarding your work:

    – Concept is well-explained in a creative method
    – PPT is well edited (should be video)
    – Format is professional (text, transitions, effects, etc.)
    – Should have document embedded and not as a download

Thanks for sharing this great project!
