↱Adaptive Technology Proposal↰

↱Hello and welcome to my post!↰

This post will be all about my proposal for an adaptive technology to help Tim Mepin, an older man who lives around this area with huntington’s disease. We had a skype call where we spoke with him about what it’s like for him to have huntington’s disease and how we could help. I personally enjoyed speaking with him and it was a very interesting experience to speak to someone with huntington’s disease, which I actually didn’t know existed until now!

↱What is my proposal?↰

●▬▬▬▬▬๑⇧⇧๑▬▬▬▬▬●

My proposal is a simplified remote box he can put his actual remote inside to make using his TV easier, this will help him since his daughter told us he has a nice TV but barely uses it because he can’t press the buttons well and it’s hard to understand what every button does.

↱How would it work?↰

●▬▬▬▬▬๑⇧⇧๑▬▬▬▬▬●

The remote box will work by having the buttons on the box positioned to hit the actual remote’s buttons when the remote box’s buttons are pressed. It would also have a hole in one side to allow the remote censor to work, and some kinda of flap or latch door to allow someone to put in or remove the remote from the remote box.

Another feature it would have is the fact the each button would have a plastic ring kinda of thing to help his finger hit the remote box’s buttons.

↱How would we make it?↰

●▬▬▬▬▬๑⇧⇧๑▬▬▬▬▬●

The box would be made using a 3D printer to print the parts to make it, these parts would be the box, the buttons, the door/flap, and possibly other parts to insure the buttons can move up and down while staying in place. We could use the maker’s space 3D printer or my family’s 3D printer to print these parts. We would then use some super glue to hold anything that needs to be held together, together!

  1. It’s really well organised and easy to understand. I am glad you included images to help explain what your ideas would look like. I look forward to making your ideas come to fruition.

  2. Thanks for your reflection on our connections-based learning with Tim. Yes, Tim is a great person and made it easy for us to connect with him. I love the research you did into what could be done to help him and I appreciate the steps you included in your post. I wish you the best on your adaptive technology innovation. From where could you learn more about remote technology?
