Digital Footprint

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.

Having a bad digital footprint can affect you for the rest of your life. You could be applying for a job, a small part time one, or one that you are seriously considering as a career, and you could get denied, for something you posted on Instagram when you were 13. It also applies to school and scholarships. Maybe you’re trying to get into a prestigious university, but they do a background check and deny you entry because you had pictures of you partying online.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe?

There are many strategies you can use to help keep your digital footprint safe. One easy thing you can do is to not post anything innapropriate, or anything that you wouldn’t want your parents or future employer to see. Another, is to keep all your accounts private and only let people you know and trust follow you. Finally, Keep track of or delete all your old accounts, especially if they have embarrassing or innapropriate posts.

What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

Well, I think the number one thing that I would pass on to other students would be to not post anything innapropriate, it’s not worth it, and also turn off location services on your Iphone. They are keeping track of everywhere you go, how often, and for how long to sell it to advertisers.
