Digital Footprint

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least 2 examples.

When applying for college you want to make a good impression, having illegal, or inappropriate content attached to your name is not going to help you. Also when applying for a job, the interviewer would likely search your name on separate social media platforms to see if you are a responsible person.

Describe at least 3 strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

  1.  Don’t do anything on the internet you wouldn’t want anyone to know about.
  2.  Think before you post something, is it going to hurt someone or inspire them? Is it illegal or is it helpful?
  3.  People are allowed to have opinions, as long as they aren’t to hurt anyone.Person Holding Phone While Logging-in on Instagram ApplicationPhoto of Hand Holding a Black Smartphone

What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

I would recommend thinking about what will happen in the future before they post something, because once it is on the internet, it is always on the internet in some way, shape or form.
