Desmos Art Functions Portrait Semester 1 2018

the equations that I used were

  • y=x^2
  • y=√ x
  • x^2+y^2+=r^2

the challenges I faced during this project were:

  • trying to move the shape I had already created
  •  figuring the restrictions because I found that I was mixing up the negatives and the positives

the way that I helped solve these issues were:

  • I tried asking other people
  • I played around with it to try my best to figure it out myself
  • another thing I did was I searched up a tutorial on how to move the shapes around and how to make certain shapes, and that really helped me try to make my portrait.

I asked a few of my friends for help when I didn’t know how to do an equation and some of them gave me the information I needed while at the same time others refused to give me the information because they didn’t want me to copy their ideas.

this assignment really helped me understand relations and functions, it helped me better understand domain and range, as well as restrictions on the graph.

overall I really liked this assignment because it visually helped me understand relations and functions

Flag Pole Math Lab 2018

Today in math 10 we calculated the height of the flagpole in the front of our school.

I started my taking the heigh (from foot to eyes) of my partner Hayley.  Then we had to figure out the distance between Hayley and the flagpole, which was 6m. The last step we did was to figure out the angle at which Hayley was looking up using a clinometer, it was 54 degrees. When we got inside we used the trig ratio (tan) to figure out the final height of the flag pole, which was 8.2m.
