Community Connection

For this project, I had to interview someone with a job, hobby, volunteer role, or skill. I chose one of my mom’s coworkers.

My mom’s coworkers role is to help others that need the extra help. She is a homestay nurse. I chose to interview her because I had an easy connection to her and I am interested in what she does. She helps out a lot in the community with this kind of job. I learned that it isn’t always about the schooling required for a job but what kind of personality you have. This interview took place over text.

Why are you passionate for your job?

I am passionate about my job knowing that I am helping clients get ready for their day and that they appreciate the help I am giving.

What obstacles have you faced to get to where you are today?

The biggest obstacle would have been juggling work and family. Finding time to be with family when you work evenings has always been a challenge. Another obstacle would be learning to cope with death and how to overcome grief.

What advice would you pass on to someone interested in what you are doing?

You need to be passionate and need to be a people person. You need to be patient and sane.

Would you be open to further contact from Riverside students and if so, how can someone contact you?

Yes, they can email or call me.

What are some disadvantages of your job?

Some of the disadvantages would be that working in healthcare the hours’ aren’t good.

If you Didn’t have that carrier what would you be doing?

If I didn’t have this career I would be a caterer because I also love cooking.
