  1. Yes, I enjoyed this lab because I was introduced to a new type of food that I have never had before.
  2. I would add something to bring out the flavor or add flavor. To make it healthier I would add some sort of protein like chicken.
  3. Once our food is deep fried in oils/fats it quickly becomes an unhealthy choice.

Governing Quebec Paragraph

As a British official, I realize there are many alternatives to governing Quebec. I have chosen the policy of Isolation to ensure the colony is properly run. I have chosen the best policy of Isolation, having all three nations divided and separated into reserves. This way of government  will ensure the safety of Quebec. Having the three Nations separated allows the French, First Nations, and the British to have their own way and of life (language, culture, government). This will result in no conflict because colonies will be getting a say in how they live their life. Not rebelling if they don’t like something about the government system. The people living in these reservers will be protected by the government. I think that Isolation of a better way of government than Assimilation because forcing British laws, customs, language, and religion on to the French and Natives could result into major conflict.  The French and Natives are already set in their ways of life, pushing new laws and ways of life onto them could result into big problems. As I have outlined above, I believe the best policy for governing Quebec is Isolation. This will insure that the colony will remain under the British control and provide wealth for our glorious country.

Digital Footprint

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities

In todays world when most of us apply for a job we will be googled or searched at some point. This will probably include looking at some form of social media from the past or now.  you can have a positive impact or a negative. I would hope that what comes up would be appropriate and respectful. If the work place you are applying at finds that what you have posted online is not appropriate etc there is a very high chance they will not hire you.

how will this affect my future opportunities? if I were to post something that is inappropriate that will follow me for the rest of my life, when I apply for job, school etc. i would like to think that my digital footprint will be a positive thing and will not affect the decide of weather not i will get to pursue my education or career.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint safe.

thinking about what I post is very important aspect of keeping a safe digital footprint. Before posting something always this of who it might hurt and the possible out comes etc. When you think before you post it can help you in so many ways. Always think because one day you might  regret it and it can not be deleted. The same goes for cyber bullying what ever you comment can not be deleted or taken back.

Another strategy would be to don’t share any personal information. Phone numbers, emails and other important informations that you don’t need the whole world to know.

Another strategy that comes to mind would be, to be private or only follow let the people you personally know. lets say that i was applying for a job and they did a detailed background search. they were looking  at my profiles and noticed that I was following a reticular person . I don’t personally know them but i let them follow me.  This person that I let follow me was just declined from this job  for their personal postings or other reasons  were not appropriate or is  very unqualified for the job. The work place that just applied at thinks that i have relations with that person, this may affect their final decision and my future. Im not saying that this exact sto
ry will happen to every body but it is a caution to be aware of.

What information did you learn, and how would you pass on to other students?

During this project I learned many things. while  thinking about the responses to my answers i discovered that  my digital footprint is a very important thing. I had never really thought about it at all. I am very glad that idid because it will help me make responsible and positive decisions to my social media accounts and anything that relates to my digital footprint. While researching I learned that when applying for school they probably won’t  search you, but if you apply for school outside of Canada they will defiantly do a check. The reasoning is that they don’t want some one with a negative digital reputation representing their school and also taking a spot from someone who actually lives there. If i had to tell what i learned and the importance of your digital footprint to other students, I would make sure that i state its a very important part of pursing a future weather it be further education or work. basically just the importance of leaving a positive mark or impact about yourself online because nothing can really be deleted.

At What Rate will Algae Reproduce in  a Micro Gravitational Setting ? (Mission 7 to ISS)

1.) For our experiment, we have chosen to research Petaluma’s high school’s grade 12 winners. Their experiment is “At What Rate Will Algae Reproduce in a Micro Gravitational Setting Versus on Earth.”

1.a) who: Grade 12 students form Petaluma High School located in Petaluma, California. The students who participated in this experiment were  Morgan Giraud &  Tara Thomas.  http://cfb.unh.edu/phycokey/Choices/Chlorophyceae/colonies/colonies_not_ flagellated/SCENEDESMUS/Scenedesmus_Image_page.html (Picture below, Scendesmus)

What:  In their summery, thhttp://cfb.unh.edu/phycokey/Choices/Chlorophyceae/colonies/colonies_not_flagellated/SCENEDESMUS/Scenedesmus_Image_page.html ey talk about how microalgae can produce a lot of oil, and some algae can produce 77% of oil. Because most algae need light to grow, for their experiment the used scendesmus, which is an algae that can grow without sunlight. These algae can grow only on glucose and can still reproduce. The study is looking for differences in the biomass reproduction in space compared to how it reproduces on earth. It can also be used to compare the amount of oil produced. With the problem of scarce none renewable resources in the world today they hope that this could help with future resource

Where: The grade 12 students created this experiment from Petaluma, California.

When: This experiment won a spot on mission 7 to ISS it left earth on April 8th, 2016 and returned back to earth with results on May 11th, 2016.

Why:  They thought it was important to study different places that algae can grow so they can make the most of where it can grow faster and better. They want to prove that if they can show that algae can grow faster in space then they should continue to do so instead of on earth.

Background Information:

-Micro algae bio mass can be used to produce bio fuel, animal food, and dietary supplements
-Micro algae produces an average of 5000-15000 gallons of oil per acre per year
-because light is not available in the payload box on the ISS they have chosen a heterotrophic strain of -algae that can can reproduce with no sun light.
-Scenedesmus is an algae used in biofuel production that can only survive and reproduce on glucose
-most algae reproduce by mitosis
-micro algae or microscopic algae grow either in marine or fresh water systems
it must be provided light to survive or reproduce
-it is determined that algae reproduce faster in micro gravitational setting.

c.) with the control group being the students and the experimental group being astronauts in space doing the experiments. the difference between the two were that the control group did the normal experiment on earth. they took the algae and grew it in the dark and observed how fast it grew the nutrients it produced etc. the soon realized that after doing the experiment in the ISS it was proven that algae grew and produced faster in a micro gravitational setting.

d.) We just recently contacted our groups school asking for information and they replied saying that, the students just recently got information back and they are still awaiting on tests. they said that they would come in contact with our group sometime this week.

2.) We think that the gr12’s from Petaluma’s High school’s topic of “At What Rate Will Algae Reproduce in a Micro Gravitational Setting Versus on Earth.” won because of their reasoning. There was another group that didn’t win with the same topic, and so we read the briefing of that experiment as well. The proposal that won was very well described and had a solid idea. Everything that they said was leading up to or about the exact topic. As well as their topic was very specific on their idea. They had everything extremely well thought out and planned, where as the other wasn’t as clear. Also their experiment was about helping produce more oil/how fast it can reproduce. They said that their experiment was meant to help future research and the worlds future resources because of the small amount of important resources in the world. Because of that reasoning I think that it gave the SSEP a clear reason choose them because  it is smart and resourceful but also makes sense and can be used in the future if successful.
