Ella’s Goals

I will get my triple fold in contortion by the end of October. In order to achieve this goal I will work on this specific trick twice a week for twenty minutes . My coach will help me with this trick by giving me corrections and being my spotter. I will deal with my mental block by practicing the trick enough times that its no longer scary.

My goal is to have straight A’s by the end the school year. I will achieve this goal by starting to study for at least 20 minutes a day for a test as soon as I hear about it. I will also make a homework and study schedule to hold me accountable. I will also make sure to ask the teacher for help when I need it. I will use fidgets to help cope with my lack of focus and ability to stay still.

A fresh look at the periodic table

A fresh look at the periodic table

Define and discover

Find a new way to organize/ sort the periodic table of elements in a improved and more practical way.

What details from the current periodic table could use improvement?

One improvement that could be made is an improvement to the shape of the periodic table by getting rid of the gaps.

What do we want to keep from the current periodic table?

We want to keep the period and the atomic number.

What details do we want to add?

We want to add the states of matter.

Dream

The periodic table tells us the atomic number, the families/groups, the ionic charges, the symbols of the elements, the names of the elements, the periods and the non metals and metals

Based on the physical and chemical properties we could sort it by the atomic number within the families. We could put the periodic table in a rectangle shape.

We could color the periodic table  depending on the families and color the corner of  the elements depending on the states of matter and list the number of protons, neutrons and electrons within each element. We could also make a legend to explain all the color coding. Also, all the element boxes could be the same size

Design/ deliver

One of the main parts of the design that we wanted to add was we wanted to get rid of all the gaps beca

use we thought it would make it more strait forward and simple. We used color to label the states of matter and the different families because we think its important to know the differences between the elements. We also kept the periods for organization.it is also important to know the different families because the elements in each family often have similar properties. We kept a very simple shape because it is easier to understand.

Debrief

Overall, I think our group did a good job on this project because our new periodic table is organized and easy to understand. It also has a fair amount of information. I think we could have improved our periodic table by adding in the amount of electron, neutrons and protons each element has.
