Lyrical Seuss Reflection


What was the goal of this assignment (ie. what were we trying to achieve?) and how does that connect to our conversations around sound and sound use in media (literature, film & music)?

The goal for this assessment was to illustrate how telling a story is important in movies, tv, music etc. not just to look/sound cool, but to also incorporate story into pieces of art.


Tell me about your process; in class we discussed the stages of explore, play and create; what did that look like to you (be specific)?

I have been experimenting with muse score for about a year now, but I have yet to create a piece in a minor key. With that in mind, I started to play around with the D minor scale and how I can use its Harmonic/melodic variants in my piece. During the recording of this piece, there were some mess ups, but also some happy accidents. If you compare it to the sheet music, some parts are different. This is just the process of interpretation and it brought out some musicality in this piece.


Tell me about the choices you made… for example; did you use beatmaker by splice? what story did you choose? what were the decisions made about the creation of the beat itself? why did you choose to do it the way that you did?  and most importantly… tell me why you made those decisions!!!

I made the choice to make a choir piece over a rap due to my passion in music. It also seems cool to make a very dramatic version of green eggs and ham.





Overall, how well did you achieve your goal?

           – 1 being: I didn’t even know what the goal was…

           – 5 being: I achieved my goal and I feel great about it!



Rate your experience on an enjoyment/fun scale:

           – 1 being: I hated this assignment

           – 3 being: this was surprisingly fun

           – 5 being: from day one to presentation day I really liked this one!



Tell me (could be just 1 item… could be 20…) what you learnt through this process (it could be skill based: something like learning a new app or how to use a new online platform… it could be something technical to do with literature like the purpose of rhyming to a beat… it could something like how having fun produces good results).  Think outside the box… explore your mind 🙂

I learned about the soprano and alto vocal ranges better. When I gave it to my singers, the female singer could not sing as high as written without compromising the musicality.

Math 10 – Week 15

Solving Systems, But Better

Using a graph for salving more complex systems kinda sucks, so you’ll need to find another way to solve those juicy systems.

Well let my introduce the best way to solve systems, elimination!


So when you have a system, you can add them together. when you add them together (make sure the x or y can equal 0)(also can multiply/divide an equation to get it good) it’ll make the system into 1 single equation, where if you find the value for x or y (in the example, is x), you can also find the other missing value by imputing the newly discovered value into one of the system’s equations.

In the example above, there is a lot of tedious math (mainly because I accidentally made it this way) and make sure you verify your answer to ensure that the answer is correct.


What kind of technology would we need to support life on non habitable planets?

What is a habitable planet


For a planet to habitable, you’ll need the planet to be a suitable distance away from its star. If the planet is too close to the star, everyone would quite literally burn and die. If the planet is too far from the star, it be very cold and farming would be a pain 


The gravity of a planet is determined on the mass and size of the planet, and if it is too small or too light. It would be increasingly difficult to stay on the planet, and to create structures on the planet.

The Core

Having a molten core is very important addition to a habitable planet. Planets with a molten core assists in protecting the life forms on it from flares from nearby stars and harmful radiation


Atmospheres are important because they can trap gas on the planet so we can breathe. It also would be nice for extra protection from radiation

With All these things, a planet would be habitable. Sadly, there are no planets that meet all these requirements in our solar system. 
There are 2 planets that are similar to earth but also have their own challenges of life. These planets are Mars and Venus.


Venus has a similar size and structure than earth and some scientists suspect there was an ancient ocean on the planet. Venus  has a very slow rotation, and has a iron core. Venus’ atmosphere consists mainly of carbon dioxide, with clouds of sulfuric acid droplets. The thick atmosphere traps heat from the sun and has a surface temperature of 470 degrees Celsius (does melt lead)

If it was possible to make a cooling system to prevent utter destruction, you would also have to deal with a huge amount of carbon dioxide. So you would need a way to get oxygen to the planet so you wouldn't just die.


Mars is cold so we would need to build a lot of building for farms and stuff. It has iron, titanium, nickel, aluminum, sulfur, chlorine and calcium. There is a good amount of water. The main problem with mars, is that the gravity is not that strong and the atmosphere is very thin.



Living on mars would require technology that we already have and is in close reach of being done. Mars is a more realistic planet to live on rather than Venus, but if we advanced our technology enough to get oxygen to Venus, it would be really interesting if we lived on the hot planet.

Solving Systems

A system is a pair of linear equations that have the same x and y values (a point in common on a graph)

You can try to figure it out in your head, or you can graph the equations and use sick visuals to find the solution.

In this graph, we have a system for lines x + 4 = y and 4x + 10 = y. When you take a look at the lines, they seem to intersect at a specific point. This point is (-2,2) and is the solution to the equation

In the graph, we have some really ugly points and for this equation, using a graph is helpful for understanding systems, but don’t rely on it because it takes too long and sometimes it not very accurate.

Point Slope Form

I would say that point slope is my favorite equation for a line. It tells you where a nice point is, what the slope is, and it looks best in my opinion.

To graph this type of equation you’ll need to start at the nice point, and use the slope to create the line.


Math 10 – Week 12

What Is Slope?

The slope of a line represents how steep the line is on the graph. To find the slope, you’ll need to identify the nice points (Whole numbers) on the line (at least 2).

Now you need to find the rise and run that is required to get from 1 point to the next (rise before run). After you know your rise and run, you can put it in a fraction (rise over run). This fraction will be your slope (simplify if possible). Also we use the letter m for slope.

In this example we have a rise of 5 and a run of 1. So our slope will be 5 (m = 5).









Make sure to read left to right, because sometimes you’ll come across a negative slope. The difference between positive and negative slopes is that a positive slope is going up and a negative slope is going down (reading from left to right)

In this example, the rise is -1 and the run is 1, so the slope will be -1 (m = -1)  



Math 10 – Week 11

How to Find the Distance Between 2 Points on a Graph

We have 2 points ( (2,4) and (6,4), to find the distance between these 2 lines we’ll need to see if any of the x or y values are the same. If they are, it makes your job in finding the distance easier. In this example, our y values are the same, so all we have to do is subtract 2 from 6 (6 – 2) and well get 4. So the distance between these 2 points will be 4.


If the line is not perfectly vertical or horizontal, Finding the distance will take a bit longer

in this graph, we have points at (1,1.5) and (2,4). If you look closely, you’ll see a right triangle like this

So all we have to do is some Pythagorean theorem and we can find our answer.

Math 10 – Week 10

Function Notation

Functions Will have names (it mostly matters when you have more than one) and typically people will use F, but it can be any letter.

The relation will tell us what to do when we have certain values

For Example:

So if we have the function name and a 4 instead of and x, we will replace all the x values with 4. and at that point we would be able to find what the Y value would be if the x value was 4.

Example #2:

You can also get something where they tell you the Y value and you need to find the x value.  To do this you’ll need to reverse the steps from the first example. So here we will subtract 21 by 7, then divide it by 2 and then there is our answer.
