For this project we were put into groups and had to create a theme park with our group based on the book we read. My role was to plan out and create the map of our park. I also made the map key and did the game descriptions. I contributed a lot to this project and made sure that I got my work done on time so that we had a good looking map to present that represented our book well. The map took quite a bit of time and there were parts of it that were quite hard, but I think that I did a good job of it considering I did it by myself and I had never used icograms before. For the map key, I labelled each section of the park with symbols and made the key match up to the symbols on the map so its easy to figure out what each thing is on the map. The game descriptions was the easier part of this project for me. Our group decided to add games to our theme park to make it more interesting and I really liked the ideas we came up with and I think they represent our book really well. Although I did a good job on my part of the project, our group definitely had some challenges when working together. Overall, I think in the end it turned out ok. What I have learned and would do differently next time, is negotiate more equal roles amongst the group and talk about individual contributions. I personally felt my group wasn’t balanced and this was a challenge for me, although I did like the idea of this project and thought that it was a good way to evaluate how well we understood the book.
