New UN campaign seeks to bring younger generation into fight for gender equality

This article is about a UN woman launching a campaign Monday to bring a young generation of women and men into the campaign of gender equality. The woman was named Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and she was fighting for gender equality in Beijing. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka was 63 years old and was born at November 3rd 1955. She had asked 193 U.N. member nations to submit the details and data on what their countries had done to implement the Beijing platform. On Friday, she had received only 22 responses but was hoping the entire membership will answer, so she plans to analyze the data ahead on next year’s anniversary of the gender equality. The Beijing platform had called for bold actions in 12 critical areas for women and girls such as combating violence, improving all gender rights and access to reproductive and sexual health care. Ensuring that all girls gets to go to school and women are at the top levels of business and government. The reason why I choose this article because Phumzile was strong and confident enough to stand for woman and say that women deserves rights and that men and women should be equal. The other reason why i choose this article because I believe that women deserves their right and i think this is the perfect example of it. This is related to “The Friday Everything Change” by one woman who changed everything for the girls and manage to get their rights.
