Sixty percent of food is packaged all around the world for protection from bacteria. They use plastic, glass, cardboard, tin cans Styrofoam, saran wrap. Cheap, efficient, practical they use plastic because it can be molded into any shape, and the tin cans for canned foods and soups, water bottles and jars, saran wrap and Styrofoam are used to package meat. Food packaging is positive because it protects the food from bacteria and germs, and it is also extending the expiry date to make sure the food is eaten. It is also negative because the problem of waste is that it needs to be cleaned up, so it doesn’t affect our environment and it can harm animals. They get thrown in the trash and gets burned, decomposed and thrown into the ocean. In one day, the packaging material is still in your trash can. In one year, it will be sitting in the ocean or animals will be eating it, after 100 years it will be still be in the ocean or on land until it fully decomposed which takes approximately about 500 to 1000 years. The foods waste gets decomposed or gets burned or animals start to eat it, animals eat food waste because of lost and natural habitat. Digest all the ingredients that you put on your plate. Start eating more biodegradable foods, use more reusable food packaging and less plastic, use less processed ingredients, when cooking don’t over-serve food, take left over food from restaurants home.
