What are some things that were challenging?

The part of this assignment that I found the most challenging was just getting to know how to use Photoshop and what you can do with it. The video that Moe created was definitely useful and covered most of the steps that we needed to know however that tutorial was done on Windows computer, which had some differences with my Mac. A few of the instructions were a bit different however after some time playing around with the different options, I quickly got the hang of it.

Another part that I found a bit challenging was making sure that most of the green background was erased from my picture. That was the step that took me the longest as there were many areas in my picture that were smaller and required more detail wok to assure that there was minimal background left.

What are some things that worked well?

Something that I found to help me edit the background was zooming in on my original image and the selecting areas that were left out. This ensured that I was able to remove as much of the original green background as possible and create a better transition with my new background.

I also found that the tutorial video answered a lot of my questions as I was going along. I can say that without this tutorial video I would have been stuck on different steps of the editing process and would have taken me much longer to complete.

What did you learn? How can you apply this?

During this assignment, I learned how to use Photoshop and how to edit pictures. Now I know how to insert any background that I want into any of my pictures which is definitely useful in and outside of school. This tool can be used in projects for English or even Science classes if you want to make a poster or edit out a background. Last year were used iMovie to edit out the background of a picture, however, Photoshop is much easier to use, with better results.

This skill can also be applied outside of school if you ever wanted to make a collage or holiday card, by editing the background! This is something that I will definitely be using this holiday season.
