Fear

This is a picture of me at a rock climbing competition. My fear is people watching me climb, at the moment this picture was taken there was around 40-50 people watching me. I also have a fear of falling off of heights. I am slowly overcoming my fear of both of these, by climbing in front of people more often and falling on purpose.

How do gender roles affect relationships?

In the book William’s Doll by Charlotte Zolotow, William, the main character, is a boy who really wants a doll which he can cherish and love. His parents, on the other hand, say that he should play with boy toys, and his brother and neighbor boy called him names. His parents gave him gifts like a basketball which he became very good at it, yet he still wanted a doll, and a train set he loved to play with. In the end despite all the gifts he still wanted a doll. When William’s grandmother came over he showed her his toys and told her what he wanted the most was a doll, when the grandmother said she’d get him one he refused saying everyone would make fun of him and call him names. His grandmother still bought him a doll and William was more than happy. The grandmother and father started talking and she told him he needs the doll to love it like he will his children later in life and teaches him how to be a good father. Humans can be closeminded, but you can still learn to be happy. Growing up with gender stereotypes can result in distance from friends and family, but when one person accepts it may result in happiness and strong connections.

Racism Then and Now

Racism has gotten better over the years, but there are still lots of instances of it now, with people being racist online and in person. Before, racism was sometimes considered almost good in a way and was used all the time, especially because there was slavery during that time so not many people thought of it too seriously. Now however slavery barely exists and racism is definitely lower but I would hope that it gets even lower with people becoming more understanding as the years go on.

Year End Reflection

3 Things I learned:

  • How to work well in a team
  • Not be scared to ask for help in your group
  • How to express myself using poetry

My fondest memory:

Working on our last project (the stop motion project) because it was  fun and I met a new person. It was fun because we just got to play around with Lego pretty much and just have fun but also doing a project at the same time.

Tip for next year:

Don’t be afraid to talk to people around you, it will make it so much easier. You won’t regret it.

Science 9 App Review

Class 9 MarkShark is the app that I have chosen to review.

Suppose you need help with moleules or with structures of an atom. The app has that, it seperates into different sections and different sections and is set as lessons that you can complete. This app can definetly help with science and all the stuff you go over in that class. As well as science help, it also has math help and practice tests that you can complete to get ready for your real tests. The pros are that it is really easy and simple so you don’t have to think so hard about how to work it and the way it functions is comfortable. The pros hit really hard though as you have to pay after your 7 day free trial, having to sign up at the beggining and verifying email/phone number and downloading every lesson.

Over all it’s a good app but some stuff could be improved for sure.
