Math 10 Week 3

This week we started our new unit, exponents. Although exponents have never been my favourite math unit, I am not minding them as much this year. This week I learned the term “Flower Power” and how to use it. It is a simple term to help us remember what to do when we see a fraction exponent.

To be able to solve this problem we must first look at our numbers. For this equation, we are trying to find the answer to 125^2/^3. By following the rule of flower power, we take the 3 (which is the denominator of the exponent fraction and put it in front of the root sign making it \sqrt[3]{125}^2. Next, we solve what the cube root of 125 is, in this case it’s 5 because 5 x 5 x 5 = 125. We are now left with 5^2, to solve this we do 5 x 5 = 25. So, the answer to 125^2/^3 is 25.
