Inquiry #1 Harrison Bergeron

What can happen with too much change?

The story “Harrison Bergeron” is about a society in 2081 where a gouvernment with total control has made everyone equal by making everyone wear weights, masks and earpieces. There is a lot of change from the society we live in today. In our world today we encourage people to compete with one another to strive to be the best and that helps progress the human race forward. But if we try to make everyone equal, no longer will we find new and exciting discoveries, we will degress scientifically and as a society. When there is too much change in the world we would be destroying everything we had built up to now. Progress is not immediate and we know that, but when we try to change and progress ourselves too far forward too fast all the work we have done, would be undone.
