Time will ease the hurt
The sadness of the present days Is locked and set in time, And moving to the future Is a slow and painful climb.
But all the feelings that are now So vivid and so real Can’t hold their fresh intensity As time begins to heal.
No wound so deep will ever go Entirely away; Yet every hurt becomes A little less from day to day.
Nothing else can erase the painful Imprints on your mind; But there are softer memories That time will let you find.
Though your heart won’t let the sadness Simply slide away, The echoes will diminish Even though the memories stay.`

I would recite this poem at a funeral because it describes the aftermath of a death very well. “No wound so deep will ever go Entirely away; Yet every hurt becomes A little less from day to day.” is a very good description of what someone would feel like after a death and if you were to read this at a funeral everyone would come out of there with their heads held high waiting for life’s next obstacle.
The vows I take will be forever by Nicholas Gordon
The vows I take will be forever: I’ll love you all my life. There’s no part way, no holding back Once we are man and wife.
The choice is made, and now I swim In a far different sea, The shores of which are bright green hills Raised up for you and me.
Our love is like a mountainside Awash in lovely flowers: It is our home, our solid rock, Where all bright things are ours.
And though of need we often must Spend our days apart, Our love will always be with us, Held within the heart.
I feel it now, so strong and free, So part of every breath That it must live–I swear it will!– Even after death.

I would recite this poem at a wedding because it tells you what a wedding means to you mentally and physically. “The vows I take will be forever: I’ll love you all my life. ” is a very good description of the mental side of a wedding and how you are giving all of your love to your significant other. It also is not too long or too short which makes it perfect for a wedding.
Your Adventure
Now that you’ve graduated,
Your adventure has begun.
Your schooling has prepared you
For the race life has you run.
We praise you for your efforts,
And send good wishes, too,
For a future filled with happiness,
And your fondest dreams come true.

I would recite this poem at a graduation because it fills the people who are graduating with joy and happiness because even though they are leaving high school and all their friends behind this is only the beginning of their journey in life and this poem has told that very well.
Great poems and explanations. I especially liked how you added quotes from the poems into your explanations. My only criticism is to add a few more commas 🙂
Good points!
The poems you chose were very appropriate for all of the situations to chose. I really like the rhyming scheme in the second and third poems, but it seems that the way you pasted the first two poems was a bit off as the format was weird. But nonetheless great.
I really like the paragraphs you wrote about each poem. It’s clear that you understand the poems you chose and new what the interpretation was of them.
I liked your choice of words you really thought hard about the poem and its meanings. I think you are very good at analyzing. You did great.
My favorite poem was the wedding poem, and it was all well written.
Terrific job Derek. I liked the poem choice for the wedding poem, because it is very romantic. I also thought your graduation poem was very motivational.
Good job! I like how you took certain lines and explained why they would be good for that occasion.
I really like it because you have great explanations for each of the poems.
I really like the choices that you chose and the “The Vow I Take Will be Forever” it bring some emotion that you will never leave their side.
