Science Honours 10 – Paper Airplane Scientific Method Project

What did I learn?

While doing this project I learned many things about the scientific method, and how paper airplanes behave. I learned:

  • What independant and dependant variables are
  • What the two different types of data are (quantitative and qualitative)
  • The difference between a control and experimental group
  • How to make a paper airplane
  • Adding paper clips to the end of a paper airplane decreases airtime

What would I do differently next time?

If I were to do this project again I would probably choose to measure distance instead of airtime. I believe that the results from measuring distance would probably be more accurate due to it being easier to measure. Since we needed to rely on human instinct to stop and start the timer, there are bound to be some innacuracies with the measurement.
