Did you have any challenges?
- While I was tracing my helmet, I noticed that when an equation has the y value labeled with a number, applying range no longer works. Due to this bug with Desmos, I was forced to only use domain, since I needed to have all my equations numerically labeled.
Any aha moments?
- Originally, when I started this assignment, I wondered to myself how I could incorporate an absolute value function into my graph. But, once I found an absolute value shaped line in my photo, I realized that I could just multiply ‘x’ to make the angle
Did you get help?
- When I began using curves in my graph, I got some advice from one of my classmates. They taught me how semicircle functions could be used in a variety of situations, and it definitely shows in my work.
Did you use any strategies?
- Whenever I needed to use a semicircle function, I would replace all of the numerical values with variables and apply sliders to them. From here I could easily slide the curve around the graph and change the size of the semicircle quickly. This made using curves much easier as I just needed to this, and then some fine tweaking.
How did this assignment help you understand more about transformations of functions.?
- In this assignment, I learned how to manipulate all of the functions required much better, and how to make them interact in a way that makes them replicate certain shapes. For example, multiple semicircles can create many kinds of shapes. I used them to create my knees, vest, glasses, helmet, mouth, and in other various pieces of clothing.
