English 11 Honours Writing Activity

How would you describe yourself as an English student?

I recognize that there are different points of view and I can disagree respectfully. When there are discussions in class about what the class thinks about something, I can agree or disagree with the opinions created about the subject. I can explore materials and actions based on what is given. I can use the materials given in class to create an idea of what to do next.

What should I know about you as an English student?

I am an active listener and I am supportive of the speaker. When there are people speaking or presenting during class, I can respect and appreciate what is said, and I can take in any information from the speaker. I can ask open-ended questions to acquire any needed information. If I need any information that is unclear or not given, I am more than happy to ask if I need to.

What are your strengths as an English student?

I can analyze evidence from different perspectives without creating any bias. When I am presented with different pieces of evidence that may require it to be seen from both sides, I can interpret any useful information, whilst being mindful of not creating any biases, based on the evidence. I can use criteria efficiently to develop a finished product. I am able to use points on the given criteria to enhance and develop my piece of work.

What would you like to improve upon as an English student?

I want to improve presenting information to others and audiences when needed. I want to be able to present any work or information to the class without worrying about speaking in public so that I can develop that skill. I want to improve my overall effectiveness in my writing to the reader. I want to improve the ability for my writing’s message to speak to the reader so that the message is clear, well-written and interesting to read.
