Week 3-Absolute Value

Today we will be looking at absolute value

Absolute Value is

There are a couple rules when calculating absolute values

1. Absolute values always become positive

2. They act like brackets but anything which comes out from absolute values is positive while brackets can be negative

Let’s do some examples

 

\mid-5 \mid

So that would become

5

Because it always has to be positive.

 

Here’s a more difficult one

3\mid10-15 \mid 3\mid-5 \mid

(3)(5)

final answer= 15
