Science 9 app review

App name: Chemistry quiz

Made by: Quortz Entertainment

The problem: I want to learn more about each element and how to identify the elements from one an other without always using a periodic table since a periodic table wont always be at my disposal.

Dream: I want to be able to learn more about the periodic table and all the elements listed since I have always thought that knowing all the elements might be crazy but, I thought that it would be cool to brag to your friends, or ace every science quiz because you have memorized all the elements on the periodic table and some fact about some of them. I have always believed that knowing all the elements has been awesome since I have a friend that has memorized a lot of the elements and I have always thought that the idea of knowing the elements and combining them to create new elements and making amazing chemical reactions was extraordinarily cool.

Evaluating the app:

How does the app help users build skills or learn content?

This app is a bit more difficult to use in the sense that it asks harder questions and expects less known answers. I think that with practice this app could help the user learn the answer to more complex chemistry questions which in the short term will help them better understand the easier material and think about the content differently with the new knowledge that the user has, and in the long run the user will have already gone a step ahead and taken a look at some of the more difficult work the user will now the basics and therefore the learning of more complex content will be easier to learn.

How intuitive is the app? Is it self-explanatory or does it take a long time to figure out?

The app is pretty strait forward and allows you to start using the app quickly. You can get into the app fast, and it’s also very easy to understand. Like I said before the questions may be difficult at first, but if you’re like me, you always want to test yourself and see how far you can get, so I did. Turns out I can only get an average of about 2.5-3… Yeah not that impressive. But I will continue to use the app since it takes some times to understand the harder questions.

What innovative elements does this app use?

The app challenges you by giving you a number of wrong answers that you can have, and also a time limit for each question to challenge you in a way like the popular quiz game Kahoot. I know that sometimes when you’re in class and you get a quiz in front of you, you take a look at that quiz and say, “Oh jeez, better have studied enough.” Well this app is an easy way to quiz yourself and see if you really did study enough.

My thoughts on the app: I would say that the app is very well put together and a not so boring way to learn chemistry. Sure the questions might be hard, but again knowing the difficult stuff will make the easy stuff look even easier.

Debrief:  Honestly the app couldn’t be better for the style of app that the creators were going for. But I do think that the questions can be a bit challenging at times, and I think that the creators could give you a little bit more time on each question because I found myself stuck and couldn’t answer because of the timer that was counting down, so I had to guess.
