So today in Science class I learned about some different pieces of lab equipment. I learned about graduated cylinders, beakers, florence flasks, petri dishes and finally test tube brushes. Graduated cylinders are used for measuring liquid volume. Apparently they are very accurate when measuring liquid in mL. Beakers are used for stirring heat and measure liquid volume in mL. But it isn’t very accurate due to it only being used for rough estimates. Florence flasks are glassware used to heat and store substances. Petri Dishes are used to hold specimens for observation. And test tube brushes are used to clean the test tubes after use. One time one of my friends said he needed help because he didn’t know what to do. And he didn’t ask for help. Let’s say you are needing to mix things together correctly if you need help you would ask a question to a friend that knows what to do. If you don’t ask any questions when you need to you could do something incorrectly and maybe cause some bad things to happen. Which could end up dangerously. The next day he asked questions when he needed and its all good now. Sometimes I have heard that scientists genetically modify animals to change them. In my opinion that should be considered an ethical dilemma because they are experimenting on the animals and changing their genetics. And some people can think thats good or bad. Meaning it’s a dilemma. The fume hood is in room 201. Fire alarm is between room 206 and 207. Emergency shower is in room 201. And the first aid attendant is Mr Columbo in room 219.
