Get to know me

One of my favorite pass times is martial arts, I used to go to port moody to go to one or my tae kwon do classes every 2 days, even though it took up a lot of time it made me learn more about respect and responsibility, I had a black stripe belt which was the belt right before black belt but then I had to dropped out due to my parents work schedule, I did martial arts for 5 years since I was 9. I was introduced to tae kwon do by a friend of mine when I was in grade 4, he dropped out when I was in grade 5 but I continued on.I also skate board a lot on my free time now days, in fact earlier the day I wrote this I went skateboarding with Giandfranco Borrelli, Luka Piercey and Jesse Rowley (The kid who introduced me to martial arts), we practiced jumping a stair set and went to different skate spots around Port Coquitlam. I cant to many tricks yet because I recently started but I injured my self many times trying, tricks I can do are Olie’s where you jump and bring the board with you, kick flip where you flip the board under your feet while doing an olie and a shuv it where you spin the board around 180 degrees and catch it and land. I currently ride a Superior board with tensor trucks and bones wheels original green and mini logo bearings. Here is the board that I rideHere are the trucks, the trucks hold the board and wheels togetherHere are the wheelsHere are the bearings, these bearings are Abec 3 which means it is meant for skateboarding and not longboarding, also these bearings are pretty standard but most people use Bone reds which are a lot better and easier to break in

I have taken Bronze medallion and bronze cross which are first aid courses which I need to take if I want to apply to be an lifeguard at a pool. There are a lot more courses like Standard first aid and Swim instructor but I have not taken those courses yet

Bard on the beach – Reflextion

Bard on the beach was a great way to learn more about William Shakespeare and acting, I did not know how much effort was needed to be an actor. All the emotion and body movement reflects the way you act but not only that it also reflects how you feel and how you react to certain things, my favorite activities were the activities were you needed eye contact and focus. Most of the activities had great messages but some did not or I did not clearly understand ex: the activity where you make a certain movement and other people follow along.

This photo of William Shakespeare is related to what we leaned because we were learning about acting and him and he was also an actor

The government is taking serious action after the 9/11 incident, the government wants to protect all American lives as possible and stop future terrorist attacks.

First peoples post

My subject was “Learning involves generational roles and responsibility”. I chose tis video because in this video below the first nations people are keeping their island clean and they are taking their part of responsibility with it, they plant trees to make sure they wont run out or lack trees for the future. They plants their own food without any preservatives to make sure they do not harm insects or the plant. They also limit use of vehicles because they know it pollutes the atmosphere and it is not good for their environment.

For our science experiment it relates to their principles, we are growing plants with different liquids looking for changes, but growing plants involves a lot of responsibility because you have to make sure you water it on a certain amount of days so you don’t starve it or flood the plant and you don’t want to harm the plant.

So far for our science experiment we have not done any harm to the plant (other than changing the liquids that we water it with but that is not that bad because it was for the experiment), kai and I make sure we keep track of when we water the plant to make sure we are watering it properly, we make sure we keep it in good condition (so making sure it does not get knocked over or anything other like that), so I would say this is great responsibility.

Our human impact on the environment is bad compared to the first nations people because we pollute our environment by emitting carbon into the atmosphere by driving cars where they try to use little vehicle transport and we use pesticides on our plants and food where as they don’t use them because they want to keep everything pure as they said in the video.

Science app review

There are problems in the world that just one app could solve. One problem I know that some students that want to test experiments at home to understand better cant because they don’t have some of the items or tools needed. Some students are visual learners so if something is explained to them just by words they would not understand as clear as they could, If they had  a visual demonstration i think it would be more clear for them, but then they would still not have the proper items. Something that would help is a app that lets you digitally do the experiments on your own device, the app would go through steps and show you how to assemble it and explain them. So i searched up some apps on the app store and found an app called “Kids Fun Science Experiments.” There are different categories to do and it also pronounced all the steps and gave an explanation. In the app if you don’t know what to do it will tell you instructions on what to do next. One thing I think would make the app better is it could give more information and a better explanation that tells us the result is and not just how it happens. And also making it so it would be making the voice that illustrates what you are doing a little bit clearer because it is robotic and a little hard to sometimes understand. I think the app is easy to use and it is free to download, I think its a great app and helps students understanding better in science.

Mutation Story

Hello! my name is Vincent, I am a cell who lives in my host Alex. Alex is a very different boy because he has progeria, progeria is very rare Genetic Disorder which causes my host “Alex” to seem like he is aging very fast, not to many people in the world have this disorder. Alex is lucky to be alive since most infants during birth who have been diagnose with this disorder die at birth, a regular cell nucleus would be round but my nucleus is all deformed and shaped different. Progeria affects 1 in 4 billion births and most people diagnose with it do not live past the age of 13. Surprisingly progeria is not passed down in families and does not affect any certain race or sex. Progeria is caused by a single mistake in a certain gene causes it to make an abnormal protein. When cells use this protein, called progerin, they break down more easily. Progerin builds up in many cells of kids with progeria, causing them to grow old quickly.

Part Two;

I learned more about progeria and that it is rare and affects 1 in 4 billion births. also that most people do not live passed 13 and it is not family passed. This disorder makes me think more about progeria and other mutation/disorders.
