Danielle Bryant’s poem ‘First, True Love. Loves Once’ is inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The first poem was found on page 133 of the novel First Love by Seiji Jöttkandt and the second poem is found on page 10 of the novel Love in the time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. This poem shows how first and true loves is really rare. Because when you had your first love you wont know if it’s real or true love because it’s your first you don’t have any experience at love. And true love is when you have a lot of experiences at love because you will know when its true or fake, and it is hard to find your true love. Most first are fake its like you just had it for fun so both of you are just staying in a relationship of lies and that’s where “One plays through masterpiece of lies itself.” come from, having your first “true” love which you thought is true but its not. That’s why I can say that having a First True Love is really rare. Like Hermia’s and Lysander’s relationship and on the other side Helena’s and Demetrius’s relationship where Hernia and Lysander’s love is true and where Helena and Demetrius’s love is in a lie where Demetrius is just in a spell and Helena’s thinking that it is true.
