Ranking

1. Governor General:
I chose Governor General first because it is one of the easiest jobs in government and comes with a garunteed 5 years of work and pay (makes good money). I like the Governor General represents the crown, ensures there is always a Prime Minister, and gives royal assent to bills passed by the legislative branch. I dislike that the Governor General has a lot of responsibilities to do with Canada’s Military .

2. Prime Minister:
I chose the Prime Minister second because the pay is very high and they hold a lot of power. First off, they can make up to $400,000 for a years work. I like the fact that the Prime Minister gets a lot of power and decisions. I dislike the fact that the PM works exhausting hours and can never make a mistake.

3. MP:
I chose being a Member of Parliament third because you work within parliament and also represent a party you work for. You are responsible for representing the people who voted you in and making sure the citizens are happy with your contributions for their rights. A downside to this job would be the amount of travelling that is done.

4. Minister:
I chose Minister third because you can specialize in different aspects of Canada’s sub departments such as Finance, Innovation, Science, etc. You could really enjoy the position you have or dislike it according to what you specialize in. I dislike that when you become a Minister you are responsible for the mastery of that specific subject and making the correct decisions correlating to that subject for the people of Canada.

5. Senator

My final choice was being a Senator because it is hard to make sure everyone respects your decisions.  I like that senators make a great amount of money yearly and have say in passing laws for their country. As well as that the senate is more powerful than the House of Commons.

Pressure groups/ lobbyists, petitions, and civil disobedience

For civil disobedience, you can let everybody included government hear your voice quickly, but it’s a way that breaking the law and it’s will lead to violence. It is very controversial. such as India, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

For petition, it’s more peaceful than civil disobedience, a Petition is formal written request. This allows us to have our opinion at least heard without having to start a protest. for example Mr. Vander Zalm petitioned to drop Harmonized Sale Tax and said people should only have to pay Provincial Sales Tax. However, petition may not represent the public because they are solicited.

Pressure groups and lobbyists are very influential. Let the government hear their voices. The assembly of First Nations has been successful in the past with their pressure groups. As well as implementing NAFTA in North America which has benefitted so many people in Canada.
