In “RULES OF THE GAME”,The nature of Waverly and her mother’s relationship is not harmonious,interest,slavery and ruptured . It means her mother need her superb chess to be proud and happy. In the second paragraph, her mother scolded her because waverly cried. That was not harmonious.Her mother ordered her to practice playing chess hard and talked to other people ‘Waverly is just lucky. By this, her mother can achieve her purpose. That was interest. Her mother let her bite back her tongue, she did it.Her mother let her loss less,she did it.That was slavery.In the end of this story, waverly can not bear her mother’s behavior.She considered her mother as an opponent in chess. That was their relationship ending–ruptured.
