June- my song

Pick up the phone to call me down
I never got used to that ringing sound
And drinking out of the same cup
When I run low, you’ll fill me up
Yeah, when I run low, you’ll fill me up
So dress up in your finer things
And the smile can’t hide anything
And pin the flower to my chest
And count the days that I’ve got left
Oh, I’ll count the days that I’ve got left
And I don’t know how we got so far away
From what I had in sight
Are you gonna sleep to tonight
And I don’t know where it’s gonna be a year from now
Or anyhow, how it’s gonna be tonight
Ain’t it funny how I wanted this all my life?
Ain’t it funny how I got it here and it don’t seem right?
Ain’t it funny how we all want to be someone new?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?
Well I don’t know, but I’ve been told
My woman, she’s got eyes of gold
Well I spend all day and I search all night
Til I see them in that perfect light
Oh, I’m gonna see them in that perfect light
And I don’t know how we got so far away
From what I had in sight
Are you gonna sleep tonight?
And I don’t know where it’s gonna be a year from now
Or anyhow, how it’s gonna be tonight
Ain’t it funny how I wanted this all my life?
Ain’t it funny how I got it here and it don’t seem right?
Ain’t it funny how we all want to be someone new?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?
There you go, you let me walk away
With nothing left to say
Or think, or dream, or feel, or do, or be
Oh, but I give myself a week until I’m down on my knees
‘Cuz I can’t find what I’m supposed to be
Ain’t it funny how I wanted this all my life?
Ain’t it funny how I got it here and it don’t seem right?
Ain’t it funny how we all want to be someone new?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?
Ain’t it funny how I wanted this, oh, all my life?
Ain’t it funny how I got it here and it don’t seem right?
Ain’t it funny how we all want to be someone new?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?
1. It’s about how sometimes when you havething you’ve been imagining, it’s not what it seems.
It adresses a psychological mindset. Expectations vs outcomes usually have completely different results.
2. The narrator is the singer and he’s singing too I would say himself and possibly an audience. He’s contemplating the situation he found himself in.
3. The poem is a little bit abstract because it shares a story about a girl but he wants another.
In the second stanza th was flower represents life
june represents everything we want in life but can’t have
4. The tone is sad, contemplative, tragic
in the chorus when he says “Ain’t it funny how I wanted this, oh, all my life?
Ain’t it funny how I got it here and it don’t seem right?
Ain’t it funny how we all want to be someone new?
Ain’t it funny how I fell in love and then came June?”
you can feel the suffering while he sings
5. The song is full of rythme and repetition. He rythme helps the flow and repetition helps emphasize. End rhymes thoughout
6. He uses descriptive language while sharing his feelings and metaphors for how he sees life.
Other than those the song has a simple melody. He just sings with a lot of emotion
7. This song is so heart felt and emotional. Any reader can feel his pain in the voice. Make sure you cry.
