Innovation project: Final blog post

Core competencies:

For this final blog post I have decided to focus on the “Critical thinking skill” part of the core competencies.

I believe we are refining when it comes to identifying the criteria used to analyze evidence. This is because our group organized ourselves before starting our research,

we came up with ways to make sure we were researching efficiently, and that our research was accurate and legitimate. We made a mental list of criteria that we used as guidelines for our research, and our project overall.

When our group was analyzing evidence from different perspectives, we were certainly refining. Everyone in the group listened to what others in the group had to say, and they either agreed with the person or added on to what they had to say. Overall, our teamwork when it came to critical thinking really worked out in a good way, and in the end our ideas were brought together smoothly to make our project turn out great.

For me personally, I am more in the developing section of reflecting on and analyzing my thinking, actions and products. Looking back at it now, I realize that I could have taken the time to look at all my work that had been done and make sure it was all given my best effort. I did look back at all my work once I had completed it, but very briefly. If I had looked back at all of my work, all of my actions, and my thinking, I could’ve found ways to improve these parts of the project even more and that could’ve left us with a final project that is even better than our current one.

And finally, our group was refining with analyzing our own assumptions and beliefs and considering views that do not fit with them. Each member of our group had great ideas, and when we stumbled upon a view that does not fit with someone’s idea, we found away around that to make the idea flawless. And of course, we used teamwork to overcome these problems together.

Collaboration reflection:

As a group, we executed a final project that was our “Sunergy 300,” a solar-powered phone. Our collaboration skills were certainly exceeding through the whole process of creating this project. Together, we came up with a plan for researching, for building, to get resources, ways to use critical and creative thinking, and ways to listen to other’s ideas and to come up with and present our own ideas to the group. Every member was always fully participating in our discussions about the product, and everyone always added on bright new ideas to further expand our project and to make it the best possible. We all worked well together and only had positive vibes from our group, we never had any arguments or any problems as we all just “clicked” together from the beginning.

Experience debrief:

I enjoyed coming up with a product on our own, and following through with this product and making it come alive. My favourite part about this project is that we got to present it in front of the “Dragons” as if we were on a real Dragon’s den show. This project really made me interested in the area of entrepreneurship and business. I did have some interest in those areas before, but with this project those interests grew and it expanded my view on these two things.

I learnt a lot about collaborating with fellow classmates during this project, as that was one of the main focuses of the project. Going into the future now, I will be glad to have this essential skill. One thing that I would have done differently, is that I would have looked back at my work more in-depth than I did before, to make sure that everything is spot-on and to make sure that this project turns out with one hundred percent of my best effort.

  1. Thanks for your innovation post. You did a great job sharing what you learned regarding your Core Competency. Your also did well explaining your innovation: the Sunergy 300. Your reflection is also very good. I really like how you have objectively looked at how your group worked together and your thoughts to review your work thoroughly before you present it. Excellent work with an excellent post.
