Week 10 – infinte geometric series

If we have an infinitely converging geometric series like: 3, 1.5, 0.75 … where are is -1<r<1 we are able to calculate its infinte sum using the formula:

S_\infty=\frac{a}{1-r}

We can use this formula to determine the infinite sum of the series above where the common ratio (r)=0.5 and a is the first term which is 3.

S_\infty=\frac{3}{1-0.5}

S_\infty=6
