The Road Not Taken and If Essay

“Life is never about having it only once, it’s about what you choose to do with it, who you choose to spend it with and making history when you leave.” Life is never only about having it the easy way out, if we say to struggle and feel that life is hard, how would life be better if it was too easy?
Life is nothing but an open book, filled with the ideas you paste onto pages each day of your life. We tend to take many things for granted and forget to appreciate the little things in which we go through each moment of our days. It is full of experiences and un answered questions we strive to accomplish to answer.

In the poems of, “The road not taken” by Robert Frost and “If”, by Rudyard Kipling, they have many different lessons and meanings towards them in their own words and also talk about how the many choices we choose to make, influence us on our decisions. In the poem “If”, a father is expressing and teaching his son to be patient, trust himself with his opportunities that could make him there person he is and in the future. “The road not taken”, is a poem that had meant a lot of things. The writer had been describing a man who had the choice of taking a path between two roads. In this poem, it had many lessons and had been describing that he himself had the choice to choose a path that everyone seemed to take as the common one but realizing that he would want to take the risk of taking an un common path to be unique and to be the one to say he experienced what many others hadn’t chose to do.

We make choices with everything we do whether it is something small or big, the choices we make influence us and lead us onto more opportunities. In “The road not taken”, he had the choice of taking a path between two, “Then took the other, as just as fair. And having perhaps the better claim,” which made him come to the mindset that he wanted to be unique for his own sake. This quote was demonstrating that it would have been a common road if people would take it and would be just as fair to take it like the other path. While choosing to take this path, he hadn’t realized that he would have a positive outcome on his life but yet disappointed that he couldn’t have the opportunity to take both.

As for the poem of “If”, the father was mentoring and guiding his son how to make the right decisions in life. He had explained that there would be times that life wouldn’t go the way we want and the plan we had strived for, “And so hold on when there is nothing in you” was showing that even when we have nothing much left to help us look forward to and to improve to see better opportunities, we have to keep in mind something that will keep our positivity intact. This poem also shows that when you’ve worked hard for accomplishments and gave sacrifices towards your life, “Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,” some may turn out to be worth the risk and some turn out to make you realize that it wasn’t meant to turn out the way we wanted.

Although comparing with these two poems, they both give a lesson and create thoughts to think about for a person. They show that life consists of risks, un answered questions, sacrifices and including different lessons. We have our way to choose how we want to see our perspectives on life; we have the choice to see how we choose to live our lives whether we see it clearly or as a foggy mist. In fact, mistakes are meant to happen and we tend to not see that mistakes are what make us realize our improvements and how we learn from our mistakes. We have opinions to be heard, we have opinions to be said and opinions could influence us on how we choose our decisions and whether we choose to take the opportunities to listen to other’s opinions, it could have a strong impact on our lives.

By seeing both poems having somewhat of the same meaning but looked at differently, both poems give off great messages to go by. Uniquely, both poems represent life in different perspectives and depending how you look at life, we tend to make the little things distractions instead of appreciating what we are given. We look for the prize without playing to win for it and we see things more as problems instead of finding the ways to solve them. Personally, I tend to look at life as a game but in reality we are the game and we choose where we want to go and how we want to play it.

The Metaphor Essay

You finally find something that you are really good at and also enjoy doing, the only problem is… Will others believe in you? The Metaphor by Budge Wilson is about a girl named Charlotte who enjoys learning from her english teacher named Miss Hancock. Miss Hancock and Charlotte’s mom have both influenced Charlotte to be compassionate, to understand that not everyone thinks the same, and to accept people for who they are.

Charlotte’s mom and Miss Hancock have both taught Charlotte to be compassionate and to care for others. Charlotte’s mom shows compassion towards her volunteer work and in the way that she cares about Charlotte. Her work includes chairing committees, running bazaars, and sitting on boards, “she juggled her community jobs, her house work, her cooking and her grooming.” She loved her community work, “If one were to believe her admires, the mainstay of the community, the rock upon which the town was built”. This shows how much Charlotte’s mom did care and how much compassion she has towards her community. Miss Hancock showed great compassion towards literature and how she cared for her students. She made the kids feel excited to learn about poems, plays, and stories. She made her students argue about the “meanings and methods” and “creative intentions”. “She had a gift of making most of us want to write, to communicate to make a blank sheet of paper into a beautiful or at least an interesting thing”, this compassion rubbed off on her students.

Miss Hancock and Charlotte’s mom showed Charlotte that not everyone thinks alike and thinking in a different way then someone else isn’t a bad thing. Charlotte’s mom was very neat and organized, she liked things a certain way. When Charlotte was young her mom would make her organize where her blocks were put. There was never a mess in their house. There backyard was spotless. The grass was cut evenly, there were no leaves during fall, and no swing set or sand box set up. Her mom liked everything to be perfect, “my mom is a flawless, modern building, created of glass and the smoothest of pale concrete”. Simple and clean is the best way to think in Charlotte’s moms opinion. Miss Hancock thinks very creatively, very wildly. She is not afraid to make a mess as long as it is inspiring. This way of thinking goes along with her career as a creative writing teacher. You can tell when Miss Hancock walks into a room how wild she is, her clothing will just say it all, “Miss Hancock’s clothes, which were nearly always as flamboyant as her nature”. Miss Hancock thinks outside of the box and is not afraid to stand out.

Charlotte learned to always accept people for who they are by watching Miss Hancock and her mom. Charlotte’s mom did not accept Miss Hancock for who she was. She thought that there was only one way to live. She disliked Miss Hancock because she was over enthusiastic and not very organized. When Miss Hancock died, she was not surprised. She claimed that anyone as unorganized as her could not survive being a high school teacher. When Charlotte thought it was her fault that Miss Hancock died her mother’s comforting words were “don’t loose perspective, she couldn’t keep order and she had only herself to blame”. This didn’t make Charlotte feel much better but it is all her mom could think of to be the reason she died. Miss Hancock accepted everyone she encountered, she was a very loving person. In Miss Hancock’s english class she made sure she treated everyone’s work with the same respect. She let everyone’s opinion be spoken and heard. Her class learned to listen to every opinion out there even if they didn’t necessarily agree with it, “we were free to respond positively to Miss Hancock’s literary excess without fear of the mockery of our peers”. Every student had a voice and that shows she accepted everyone.

Miss Hancock and Charlotte’s mom have both influenced Charlotte to be compassionate, to understand that not everyone thinks the same way, and to accept people for who they are. Neither Miss Hancock or Charlotte’s mother are perfect but Charlotte has been influenced by their strengths and weaknesses. The traits that Charlotte has learned will make a positive influence on her life to come.

I Want You To Know Analysis

ZEDD LYRICS
“I Want You To Know”
(feat. Selena Gomez)

I want you to know that it’s our time
You and me bleed the same light
I want you to know that I’m all yours
You and me run the same course

I’m slippin’ down a chain reaction
And here I go here I go here I go go
And once again I’m yours in fractions
It takes me down pulls me down pulls me down low

Honey it’s raining tonight
But storms always have an eye have an eye
Tell me you’re covered tonight
Or tell me lies tell me lies lies

I want you to know that it’s our time
You and me bleed the same light
I want you to know that I’m all yours
You and me we’re the same force
I want you to know that it’s our time
You and me bleed the same light
I want you to know that I’m all yours
You and me run the same course

I want you to know that it’s our time
You and me bleed the same light

I’m better under your reflection
But did you know did you know did you know know?
That’s anybody else that’s met ya
It’s all the same all the same all the same glow

Honey it’s raining tonight
But storms always have an eye have an eye
Tell me you’re covered tonight
Or tell me lies tell me lies lies

I want you to know that it’s our time
You and me bleed the same light
I want you to know that I’m all yours
You and me we’re the same force
I want you to know that it’s our time
You and me bleed the same light
I want you to know that I’m all yours
You and me run the same course

You and me run the same course

1. This is about the singer of the song thinks it’s time for her and this guy to start dating or if they are already dating then it is time that they get married, it can be both.
It is dressing a social phenomenon in the way of the girl is saying it’s ready to either start dating or get married and that is a phenomenon in just the idea that they are going to have a relationship.

2. The singer of the song is speaking, in this particular song it is Selena Gomez.
The singer is speaking to the one she loves.
She is telling the one that she loves that it is time or them to take “a step further” but it doesn’t seem like she is saying it directly to the guy, it seems like she may just be thinking about it and planning it for when she wants to tell him.

3. There are no unfamiliar words that I don’t understand.
It sort of has a cliche in the way that she is repeating herself the whole time saying the same thing but at the same time I had the same feeling of how she wanted to be with the guy at the beginning when I was listening to it, that I had at the end, so it kept its original meaning to me.
It does not have any elaborate words that the average person would not know in my opinion so maybe that detracts from the song but then again the word choice she used is also very strong.

4. The poem is serious but not in a way that there is no laughing or you can’t have any weird thoughts towards it, it is serious in the way of how the singer wants to fall in love with this guy and she’s addressing all her feelings towards that. It is also emotional in the way of love.
“I want you to know that it’s our time” sets the tone of the poem in that it is a love poem for the girl towards the guy. “You and me bleed the same light” shows how they are meant for each other.
In this one verse “I’m slippin’ down a chain reaction and here I go here I go here I go go and once again I’m yours in fractions it takes me down pulls me down pulls me down low” it changes the tone of the poem from falling in love with the guy to she is stuck in a trap of love with this guy that she can’t get out.

Sam’s Skirt: Persuasive Paragraph

Be what you want to be and don’t let others change how you see. Sam the Athlete by Stewart McClean is a story about a boy named Sam who always loved sports but was never any good at them. One day he heard that there was field hockey tryouts and he decided to show up and play in net with his hockey gear. As time was going by in the tryout he realized he loved playing and also realized he was actually good at it, it’s just the only problem was he was the only guy on the team. Sam made the right choice by wearing the skirt and playing for the field hockey team no matter who was on it. He made the right decision to join the field hockey team because he finally found something that he was really good at and also enjoyed. Without him being on the team and making that amazing save in the final game they may not have won it. He finally felt like he really fit in so why should he quit the team? Is it just because there are only girls on the team? I mean it is a co-ed team. He was the only goalie that tried out for the team and the coach was all excited that they would finally have a goalie for that year as said in the story “It looks like we finally have a goalie. Coach was smiling right at Sam” so if Sam quit the team he would really let his coach down and also the rest of the players which would make the players not like him and that would put even more stress on Sam. Sam made the right decision of joining the field hockey team and later on in his life he will have no regrets of his choice and will be happy that he was who he wanted to be and did not let others change how he wanted to see.
