Totem Response

In your opinion, based on the theme of this story, how has Canadian history and attitudes shaped the First People of Canada’s identity?

Canadian history has changed and shaped the first people of Canada identity because the Canadian government, back then, saw the native people as different people because of their skin colour, so they were forced onto reserves and residential schools and the Canadian government intentions were to get rid of the first nations culture forever, but failed to. First nation families were devastated so they turned to drugs and alcohol to help cope with their feelings, and now have been passed down for generations because their young children would be exposed to the chemicals and intoxications.
