Exploring Waves – LAB

Pulse Wave:

A pulse wave is a non-repeating wave, meaning there is a single disturbance.

Transverse wave:

A transverse wave is pulled sideways, meaning the disturbance is at a right angle to the direction that the wave will travel. Also can be explained as “across”.

Longitudinal Wave:

A longitudinal wave is when several turns of the spring are compressed and then let go. The disturbance is in the same direction or the travel. Also can be explained as “lengthwise”.

Periodic wave:

A periodic wave is a reoccurring wave at regular intervals, meaning that it requires regularly repeating disturbances.
