Denny’s: One of the best diners that happens to be a food chain.

Despite being in a world overrun by technology and social media, Denny’s demonstrates that people can still have somewhere else to go to that’s more retro and easy-going, rather than a fast-paced fast-food corporation. From the sizzling sounds of the burgers being cooked on a shiny, metal stove, to the pans clanging of workers who quicken to serve their customers, Denny’s is the type of old-school brand to never go out of style (like Chuck Taylor’s ). Their service provides a sense of comfort and care, as you’re greeted by wonderful waitresses who show you to their tall, yet comfy booths that are lit by a low blazing light. The bright yet moody aura this restaurant gives is one to look out for, with primary colors such as yellow meshed with a secondary – like brown – is a great example of how the restaurant will tend to contrast with one another. This provides a sense of intimacy if you were to dine with two, or, even a family. Crossing out the very idea that you would need to go on your phone devices to check one’s feed or chat with separate people. Not to mention, all their food is served on time just as guests tend to look around for their respective orders; the tension, the build-up towards that one moment where your food is handed to you – perfect. Take for example, their Honey Jalapeño Bacon Sriracha Burger… Oh yes, it’s as good as it sounds. With a beef patty grilled to greasy perfection, along with their thick cut jalapeños and bacon that’s drowned in sriracha sauce, it’s finally topped off with soft yet adequately-sized burger buns. It’ll leave a taste so pure, so profound, that if you could, you would ask for a second serving. With a side of crisp, crunchy onion rings and a milkshake that could definitely bring the boys to the yard, it’s quite hard to believe that this restaurant is indeed a major food corporation; considering all the homeliness and love that’s been given towards this beautiful meal. At this point during the dine-in, where you’re close to finishing that delicious meal, the one feeling that leaves your body is this sense of euphoric intoxication and that you have fulfilled what you came for, giving off a positive impression towards those that had done their absolute best to satisfy your appetite. But alas, you’re not finished quite yet, you’ve yet to try one of their desserts: the Chocolate Lava Cake. A warm, rich chocolate cake that breaks down just enough to reveal an oozing amount of molten chocolate that’s on the inside. Alongside that ecstatic scenario, is accompanied with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, the audacity to combine such a combination can leave only one description at best: mouth-watering. After you’ve finished your hypnotizing meal, you’ve yet to realize the above-average cheque that you have to pay, however one small amount of money doesn’t matter in the end as you realize, you and your companions leave satisfied. Satisfied, with the intimacy, the atmosphere, the feel, the service, the people and most importantly – the meal.

20% Project – Part 7

  1. Our presentations are next week, and just as I feared before the break, the body armor does not work. Much of the movement is restrictive and hard to put on. I believe my only resort is to use the more lightweight model that has less armor, but at least I’ll be able to move. The only thing I can conclude with these blog posts is that – although I have some design elments from the comic lore placed within this suit, it isn’t the ideal that I had hoped for. However I was able to incorporate the tech needed for me to gain easier access to my phone in conventions via Bluetooth earpieces and a phone holder in the guise of a gauntlet. I’d like to explore the idea of tinkering with recyclable objects and more tech in the future to see if I can build it to something bigger, but as of now I’d like to take a break from these kinds of projects.

For presentations next week these images are what the suit should look like next week. Something armor-light and more cloth-based.

20% Project – Part 6

  1. This week we came back from the break and within those 2 weeks I was able to complete the helmet and the gauntlets. However we are still working on piecing the body armor together in hopes to make it look like something tactical and purposeful. As we continue to do that, I decided to test out the cowl with a different suit during the break and I like much of the design incorporated, blending a bit of the comic lore as well as something lightweight – I was only able to take two photos though.

Physics #6 – Tesla Controversy

A man who owns one of Tesla’s models has filed a lawsuit against the car company due to an accident that caused him and a passenger to crash through his garage and into his living room – injuring both. He claims that the car accelerated on its own and created the accident.

This is related to Physics because if it’s initial velocity was 8.0m/s and the final was 12.0m/s in a time frame of 2.25 seconds, we could calculate its’ rate of acceleration before impact:

12.0-8.0÷3.25 = a

A = 1.23m/s^2

Physics #7 – Fatal Calgary Crash

screenshot_2017-01-02-01-49-17

On Wednesday December 28th at around 7:15 am, a Toyota CR-V was seen speeding through a road in Calgary. However slippery conditions caused the vehicle to skid off the road and eject three of its’ passengers, but killing the driver.

This relates to Physics because of the speed and momentum that were factors in this accident. Another way it could relate to Physics is due to Newton’s first law in terms of inertia, the vehicle could have been driving straight down a road when it then slipped, causing it to skid.

Sample calculation:

Equation for momentum – p=mv

Equation for velocity – V = d/t

V = 1000m/3min = 1000m/180s = 5.56m/s

M = 100kg

P= (100)(5.56) = 556kg·m/s

20% Project – Part 5

This is the last week before Christmas break and therefore to keep things at a steady pace, we spraypainted most of our armor pieces today with silver. As of now I’m debating whether or not to bring the project home in order to finish some pieces, as well as work on the cowl to glue that together in order to finish it. I’d like to do a test-fitting over the break in order to see what the suit would function and work like – this is the time where I either have to drop some of the design and replace it with other variations of his suit, or keep it if it works.

20% Project – Part 4

Today we borrowed Romani’s hot glue gun in order to piece some of the suit together, at the end of all however we were only able to piece the biceps together. I may need straps in order to amplify movements in the shoulder area as well as the chest pieces, I don’t believe that cardboard would work to piece the suit, as it’ll cause more hinderance to my movement as opposed to not.
