Math 10 – Week 17

This week in math 10 we learned our last and final unit, systems of liner equations. There are three different ways to find the solution graphing, elimination or substation. All of them are beneficial in different ways, the one I am going to to talking about is elimination. The biggest thing to remember when doing elimination is to create a zero pair with either x or y. How elimination works is you line the equations up so x is over x and so on, then you either add of subtract from there. Adding is easier so thats what I would recommend doing. After that you just solve the equation as you normally would using algebra. Once you have figured out x or y you just substitute that number into the equation and once again use algebra to solve. Keep in mind that sometimes you won’t have a zero pair and if that happened you will need to either multiply or divide by a positive or a negative to create one.
