2) “We’ll raid them and take fire. There must be four of you; Henry and you, Robert and Maurice. We’ll put on paint and sneak up; Roger can snatch a branch while I say what I want” (Golding, 195-196).
3) “The boys looked at each other fearfully, unbelieving.
‘–where is he now?’ Ralph muttered the reply as if in shame. ‘Perhaps he went back to the, the–’Beneath them, on the unfriendly side of the mountain, the drum-roll continued” (Golding, 64-65).
4) “We don’t need the conch any more. We know who ought to say things. What good did Simon do speaking, or Bill, or Walter? It’s time some people knew they’ve got to keep quiet and leave deciding things to the rest of us” (Golding, 145).
5) “The assembly shredded away and became a discursive and ran- dom scatter from the palms to the water and away along the beach, be- yond night-sight. Ralph found his cheek touching the conch and took it from Piggy” (Golding, 130).
