The videos that I watched really opened my eyes to my own digital footprint. I never knew that your records on the Internet all start when you are first born. It surprised me that everything you post, from a comment to a photo are permanent. Even if you were to delete it, it’s still there and will forever be saved. These videos made me think about what I text or say online. Knowing that in can stay with you forever is a scary thought, but it made me realize that the things I post online, defines the person I am on the Internet. As much as we think that it’s OUR phone, or OUR tablet, things that we share are completely public. When I searched my Instagram username on Google, and I was surprised to see that everything that I commented, or was tagged in was all there in the open. Even my direct messages! This whole time, I thought what I was posting on there, stayed on Instagram, but Google can have access to these things as well. Watching these videos, I think that we should all be a little more aware of what we are posting, and where it’s going. It could follow us for a long time. It’s simple. Before you post, think.
