1. The man like to fish by night because he liked to get casting alone at night. He liked the loneliness and labor of it. He liked the clean taste of salt when he gripped the edge of the net with his teeth as a cast netter must. This leads to the conflict because he was unable to see what he is catching when its dark and night outside, so she doesn’t know if he catches a stingray or a fish. The significance is that he does not fish for a living, but he does only fish for fun and choosing to put himself into danger when he doesn’t have to.

The compares the civilized and primitive world through the three of these examples. He makes references to the number of advancements the human society has had.

In the beginning, he also says that the world is much different from 20th century. These are all amazing man-made technologies like the flying plane in the sky, or the roads being built and surrounded by water is incredible. And the man’s wife who is safe at home in the warming housing.
