This was a project where we had to improve upon the original corrugated cardboard box and a cardboard box two university students invented called the rapid packing container. We had to make a model that was 12 inches by 12 inches.
In socials we had to make two trading cards about either a battle or person. I made one about The Battle of Tippecanoe which happened on November 7, 1811 and one on Sir George Prevost who lived from May. 19, 1767 to January. 5, 1816. I had to use my critical thinking and personal awareness and responsibility. I had to use my critical thinking to figure out what battles or people I was going to do. I chose to do a battle that had some more information in the textbook but a person who I had to look up to find information about. I then used my personal awareness and responsibility skills to figure out in what order to do it and how much time I needed to complete it. I chose to do all the research and writing first then draw the pictures for the covers. For this project I think I used my critical thinking and personal awareness and responsibility the most out of the core competencies.
In socials we were put into “families” (groups) to do an activity called “A struggling family”. In this group we got a four year plan about what happens to the family and ways we could live by making big life decisions for this “family”. I had to use my communication skills and my critical thinking. I had to communicate my ideas and hear what others had to say. Then I had to use my critical thinking because I had to figure out what we were willing to give up and what we weren’t willing to. Then also who would make sacrifices and who wouldn’t and what was most important. We had to find a common ground on each decision and what we thought was the best choice. I think this project forced me to communicate so they would understand my ideas and to force me to make more well thought out suggestions and ideas.
