11.1 Factors Influencing Data Collection

Today we learned about a survey for a question from Nova Scotia in 2004 asking if shops and stores should be open on Sundays in Nova Scotia.

When I first saw the article and read the question I figured that it was a pretty straight forward, easy to answer, question.

Upon learning about the influencing factors in surveys, I am now questioning whether or not this survey is bias, controlled, ethically correct, etc. I believe that noticing little things that could make big impacts on the way the surveys are answered is important.

In the future I will pay more attention to the small things and/or big things that can change the way a survey is answered.
