Exponents
Video 1
This video covered the exponent rules: Product rule, Quotient rule and Power rule. They showed how to simplify multiplying and dividing exponents with the same base and how to simplify exponents when there’s another one right on top of it. They further explained how it worked and even used examples for when you’d get a negative exponent.

- Had an example for negative exponents
Weaknesses
- Should’ve shown an example where they apply all the rules on one question
- Wasn’t very entertaining
Video 2
This video covered the rules of exponents, how to use exponents and defined what an exponent is. This video showed a lot of examples and explained negative exponents, the zero power rule and the other rules as well. They showed quickly without wasting time what exponents are and how to use them in under 9 min.
Strengths
- Pretty entertaining
- Had a lot of information
- Didn’t waste time
- Showed proof for every rule
- Easy to understand
Weaknesses
- Should’ve explained the proof for negative exponents more
Polynomials
Video 1
This video covers simplifying polynomials. It explains like terms, non like terms and how to combine like terms. They have lots of games to make it fun and entertaining which also helps with memorizing how to simplify polynomials. There’s no part about explaining what a polynomial is because he already covered that in a different video.
Strengths
- Entertaining
- Explains well
- Gives a lot of time to practice how to combine like terms
Weaknesses
- The “games” went on for too long
Video 2
This video covered what a polynomial is. They described where the word came from, the subgroups of a polynomial and what makes up a polynomial. They talked about the vocabulary, like terms, degrees, constants and etc. They also taught us how to write the polynomial in standard form.
Strengths
- Explains really well
- Has a lot of info
- Colour codes and looks very neat
Weaknesses
- Should’ve used tiles to help explain
Rational numbers
Video 1
This video covered number types. It is a music video about categorizing numbers. They explain while singing what natural numbers, whole numbers, integers and rational numbers are but they don’t make it difficult.
Strengths
- They made it fun to watch
- It’s catchy
- They explained using music what types of numbers there are
- They explained how to figure out where to put them easily
Weaknesses
- The autotune made it hard to listen to
- They didn’t include irrational numbers
- They should’ve added more examples for the types of numbers
Video 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yvtLN_24G0
This video covered Rational numbers. It explained the characteristics of a rational number in a little animation of a rabbit getting food repeatedly by a chef. Every dish the rabbit gets shows a different trait of a rational number.
Strengths
- Does a good job showing what rational numbers are
- The animation makes the video entertaining
- The rabbit relates to a lot of people which would get them attracted to this video
Weaknesses
- Doesn’t talk about what a whole number, natural number, integer or a irrational number is
- The introduction is a little confusing to understand
Linear Relations
Video 1
This video covers Linear Relations. They use the slope-intercept form to graph a line. They talk about what m and b mean in the equation y=mx+b. They explain how to graph even if the slope is a negative number of if it’s a fraction because m = rise over run.
Strengths
- Explains how to graph with the equation y=mx+b
- Explains what the variables mean
- Does an example graph
Weaknesses
- There are background noises
- Not very organized
Video 2
This video covered how to graph linear equations. They talked about the slope-intercept form: y=mx+b. They told us what m means and b means. They showed using 2 co-ordinate planes how to graph linear equations. Towards the end they taught us how to change an equation that isn’t in the correct form into y=mx+b.
Strengths
- Very neat and organized
- Good explanations
- Took his time
Weaknesses
- Over explains some parts a little
Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities
Videos 1
These videos covered how to solve linear equations and linear inequalities. Part one shows how to solve linear equalities and they talk about the different results you can get like, a true statement or no solution. They showed simplifying to make the equation easier. They also showed 2 different methods to figuring out an equality. Part two talks about inequalities. There was an example and there was also a boundary point check. At the end they gave us a word problem and solved it.
Strengths
- Lots of info
- Went through a lot of examples to help us understand
- Explained a lot in both subjects
Weaknesses
- They didn’t check their answers
- The videos are in 2 parts
Video 2
This video covered Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities. One half talks about how to solve a linear equation and the other is teaching us how to solve linear inequalities. There is a little bit of formula questions in here too. He showed how to solve everything at the beginning and he checked his work after doing it.
Strengths
- A lot of examples that guided through what he was teaching
- What he was teaching was clear
- Checks after doing a question
Weaknesses
- Not very entertaining
- Shows very briefly at the beginning the steps to solving linear equations
Scale factor and Similarity
VIdeo 1
This video covers similar triangles. They talk about how to find the missing length of triangles using a similar triangle and talks about the properties of similar triangles. They talked about how the scale factor has to be the same in all three sides or else it wouldn’t be a similar triangle and how to find the scale factor.
Strengths
- Colour coded the sides
- Made it quick and fast
- Explained well
Weaknesses
- Didn’t talk about how the angles need to be the same for it to be a similar triangle
- Could’ve talked more about scale factor
Video 2
This video covered scale factor and similar triangles. They introduced what scale factor is and then showed an example, finding the missing length. They show how to find the missing length and find the scale factor from a triangle in a triangle and later show how it applies in everyday life.
Strengths
- They gave a lot of examples
- Explained what scale factor and similar triangles were well
- Easy to understand
Weaknesses
- Not very entertaining
- They should’ve done different triangles too
Criteria
- Easy to understand
- Entertaining or not
- Explained well
