Digital Footprint Learning

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?

Your digital footprint can have a big affect on your future opportunities. Whether your digital footprint is good or not, will determine if your digital footprint has a negative or positive affect on your future. Your future employer may find your social media platforms, your posts, things you have saved and things you have said. If they are disappointed with what they see, you may lose the opportunity to work at that job. The same thing can happen with Universities.

The opposite thing can happen as well. If your employers like what they see through your digital footprint, they may choose to hire you over someone else. Your digital Footprint can open many doors and give you many opportunities in the future.

Strategies that can help you keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

There are many strategies to use that can ensure that your digital footprint represents you the way you would like to be viewed. Some of the strategies are setting personal rules for your use of social networks and websites. Always ensure that the websites you are using are trusted and secure and to always think before you post. Another strategy is to always keep in mind that nothing is deleted, once it’s posted, it is always going to be there. Connecting with people who you do not know online can also affect your digital footprint.

What Information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you tell                                                                                                them?

I would tell other students that anything and everything you do online can and will be saved. I would want them to know that there is a lot of positive things you can do with technology, but there are also many negative things. I would tell them by using technology, as it is such a big part of their lives and I feel that they would connect more with the information in a digital presentation than they would in an oral or written presentation.
