Values and politics
Which political ideology does Canada seem to follow the closest?
Canada is a constitutional monarchy, in which the monarch is head of state. Canada is described as a “full democracy”, with a tradition of liberalism, and an egalitarian, moderate political ideology. Far-right and far-left politics have never been a prominent force in Canadian society.
As we discussed in class, Canada would be a social-liberal country. Can you think of examples why? Where do we see the promotion of freedom? Where do we see the promotion of equality or fairness?
Please spend a bit more time into thinking about these questions.
