Love is one of the most intense and powerful human experiences. It is what makes life most worth living. The novel, “The War Between The Classes,” is written about how a skin color changes a life in a society. The main character, Amy always tries to have good relationships with her friends and especially her boyfriend Adam who is one of the best looking guys in the school. Amy is liked in school by the teachers and her friends. Although she becomes one of the important girls in her class with Otero’s game, because she is in “blue class” and a “Tek” girl which is the best place that someone can be in, she still loves her boyfriend so much even he is in “orange class” and a “No-Tek” boy which is the worst place that someone can be in. Amy clearly shows her love for Adam throughout the story but had to overcome her parents’ prejudices, the prejudice rules of the game, and prejudices that already existed in the school.
Amy and Adam are still falling love each other even their parents make a fuss. Amy’s parents are racists and they want her to date with a Japanese like them, not with Adam. Adam’s parents are in “upper class” and they want him to date with an upper class girl like them, not with Amy. Amy and Adam are going to the dance and Adam comes her home to pick her up. Amy’s parents don’t want her to be at home late and they say “You will not be at home late. You will be at home as soon as the dance is over.” Normally the dance is over at 1 am but Amy forgot about going home as soon as she can and comes home late. Her parents were waiting for her in the kitchen and are not allow her to go anywhere with Adam. They blame Adam not to be a Japanese boy and say “This would never happen if you had been out with a Japanese boy.” She gets mad when she hears that, because she knows its not about coming home late, its about Adam. He is not a Japanese, that’s why Amy’s parents try to get rid of him and blame him everytime. Amy is allow to go somewhere once a week after now. In school Amy and Adam are meeting at lunch and spending time with their friends but she still wants to go out with Adam. It shows us how much she loves him.
Amy realizes Adam and her are not close anymore like past because of Otero’s color game. It made the students think how the other people feel in different classes. Since the third day of the game they’d separated into their color groups. Even their lunch crowd. They no longer sit together because of the G4’s. They report the mistakes which the students make as talking with a student who has another color from them. One day at lunch, Amy suggests the whole Blue group to sabotage the game. Amy is doing what it is supposed to be in the world. She plans to create another group which is called ‘All Colors Unit’. By the way Amy plans to keep close with Adam. She takes risks even there is a possibility that she may be demoted if the G4’s see. Amy phones Carol to go to shopping with her tomorrow but Carol is scared of being reported by the G4’s. Amy convinces her and they decides to leave their armbands and hangout whatever they want. It’s stupid not being able to talk. And now they agreed to meet at the mall on Saturday. They meet in front of the mall bookstore as usual. The real reason that Amy wants to meet with Carol is telling the ‘All Colors Unit’. Then she tells her plan which is not wearing the bands anymore. Suddenly a G4, Braid comes near them and he sees that May has not her band. He thinks she forgot it but Amy says “No, I didn’t forget. I decided not to wear it, or to bring my journal, either.” She forces him to report herself. Everything is for her love to Adam. So she may be demoted and be in the same color group with Adam. There may be distance between them but the only reason that they are a couple is their huge love each other.
Amy and Adam are still dating even they have some arguments between them in their life. Amy’s father grounded her for a week because she comes home late even her parents says to her be at home as much as you can. But she knows that it was about Adam ‘he is not Japanese.’ But today there is a beach party and she was planning to go there with Adam. When she tells that to Adam, he says “Don’t worry about missing the beach party. We’ll go another time if the weather stays good. Justin and Melissa expect me to pick them up. I need to go with them.” Amy gets upset when she hears that. Adam knows that she wants to go and enjoy with him so much but she is grounded. He cheers her and says “We will see each other at school after Otero’s class. We will eat lunch together, honey.” Amy is demoted to “orange class” because she is doing what it is supposed to be in their school but it’s a game and she had to obey the rules. Then Adam thinks she has done that for him but Amy has done that for herself to be together with Adam and for the school to let them see the world has to be changed. For the next moments while they are walking without speaking, Amy understands something is wrong here and when she asks, he asks back what’s going on between Juan and her. Adam sees they come together and paste the poster everywhere, that’s why he is disturbed. Amy is disturbed for a problem that Adam went to the beach party and enjoy there with all those girl around him. Even she doesn’t say anything about it, he is talking about Juan and her. Amy loves him and doesn’t want to argue with him by the way Adam is so jealous that he doesn’t want to see anyone around her.
Amy and Adam are still falling love each other even their parents make a fuss. Amy’s parents are racists and they want her to date with a Japanese. Adam’s parents are in “upper class” and they want him to date with an upper class girl. Then Amy realizes she is not close with Adam anymore like past because of Otero’s color game. She decides that she needs to do something to get closer with Adam. Whatever happens they are still dating even they have some arguments between them in their life. There is a power between them that no one can break it, nothing can brake it. In the book, the writer, Miklowitz clearly shows us that Amy loves Adam with all her heart.
