This propaganda poster is based off of the well known fable “Animal Farm” by George Orwell. This poster utilizes some key examples of propaganda techniques such as glittering generalities, this is when a slogan or catchphrase is present appealing to a specific group. The example of this technique can be found in the captions themselves, the slogan comes from the song in the book sung by all the animals on the farm. Another type of propaganda technique used in the poster is bandwagon, this is when they portray the movement as if everyone is doing it and there for pressuring others to join as well. The image of the birds has one large bird in front and many following behind exhibiting the bandwagon technique. On the poster there is a quote from “animal farm” that is repeated by the animals many times in the real fable, this is an example of repetition, when something is repeated over and over essentially “brain washing” the people reciting it, hearing it etc… The final technique present in this poster is plain folks, plain folks means that they are getting others to find pare themselves to you and notice how similar you are. This final technique was used in the sense that the animals responsible for starting the rebellion have the same beliefs and hopes as other farm animals.
